We sat down with the tough, motivated leader of the Topsiders, Kai, to try to delve into his mindset regarding missions, the state of the world both underground and topside, and humanity as a whole. Valkyrie and I find Kai to be a straightforward kind of guy, and we know you'll be enthralled with what he has to say.

Dreamer Lake: Kai, what made you decide to become a Topsider?

Kai: I wanted to help, and protect people. I was born, and raised underground, I watched the Topsiders before me help our people in so many ways, that there was never a doubt in my mind what I wanted to do when I reached the age that I could join up.

Dreamer Lake: You moved up in ranks relatively quickly, what was your motivation?

Kai: Honestly, it wasn’t about moving up the ranks. I’m not close to my family now, but my dad is one hell of a man, and he always taught me that with anything you do, you give it your all. You never phone it in, and you don’t take second place when you can reach first. Hard work and dedication are two things I take very seriously.

Dreamer Lake: I have to ask, what is going on with you and Ellie? Any chance of giving us any juicy details?

Kai: *Laughs* Juicy details? There aren’t any. Ellie is hands down the most important person in my life. She’s my best friend, and other than my own moral compass, she is the strongest driving force that exists. But no, sorry to disappoint, there’s nothing more than friendship there. At least…

Dreamer Lake: At least?

Kai: Forget it, I shouldn’t have said anything.

Dreamer Lake: Oh, come ON! You know we can’t forget you said anything. You have to give us something.

Kai: I don’t think she like me like that, okay?

Dreamer Lake: You never know what can happen in the future.

Kai: That’s true.

Dreamer Lake: This latest mission, was it something that gave you pause?

Kai: Of course, I mean it would give anyone pause. But it’s my job. It’s what I do. I can’t rightly ask of my men anything that I wouldn’t do myself.

Dreamer Lake: Not many people lead by example anymore.

Kai: Unfortunately, but most people should.

Dreamer Lake: That is the truth. Thank you for sitting down with us Kai. Be safe out there, and we wish you the best!

Kai: Thanks to you guys, too.
