Mission Report: Topsider Sergeant Kai

We’re five days out from the base and we’ve managed to stumble through one tenth of the old ruins. It’s as I expected. Nothing of substance in such a small place. In their time, the ancestors would have considered this a small town. Now it lies in piles of rubble beneath our feet and we sift through what we can trying to find something useful.
They never kept anything important in rural areas. At least, my men and I have never found anything particularly of value in places such as this.
I did manage to find two small books. They appear to be fictional in nature. They will be of no use unless our scientists have decided to turn their work toward the realm of gods and monsters. Who knows, at this point we may be better off…

We will make camp here tonight and wake to begin the trek home before the sun rises. We were able to make our rations stretch to accommodate one extra day of searching, but the men will likely be hungry and grumpy upon our return.
I wish their families luck in dealing with them.
